6th Grade AVID (Period 3)

The goal of this class, and of AVID, is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. It is our firm belief that all students are capable of achieving great things! All of our students should leave school feeling that they can truly make a difference in the world and that they have the power and the ability to make something of themselves.

Course Objectives

• Demonstrate and exhibit core WICOR (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, Reading) standards
• Institute Focused Note-Taking in each class, actively participate in Tutorials, maintain an organized binder
• Develop abilities to further preparedness for future college, career, and life skills
• Assist students in the college and university application process
• Further self-awareness and proactively reach toward personal and educational goals
