Theater (Period 2B)

Course Description

Drama is a hands on, performance oriented class. Theatre concepts and acting fundamentals will often be experienced through student-written scenes or through scenes from a wide variety of published scripts. Students will have opportunities to take what they have learned and apply it on stage. Acting technique, improvisation, characterization, basic blocking and other fundamentals will be explored in class.  Depending on the maturity level of the class and their ability to focus as an ensemble, it could also yield a performance for the student body and parents.  The opportunity to do a performance is a privilege, not a right, and it must be earned through discipline and hard work.  Should that privilege be earned, participation in the performance would be required, either through on-stage acting roles or as a support technician and crew position. This course enhances theatre appreciation.
