English 11: American Literature (Period 1B)

This course is built around Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts and Literacy to ensure college and career readiness. The five categories of focus are reading literature, reading informational text, writing, speaking and listening, and language (written conventions). This includes preparation to succeed in the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBAAC) CA State Assessment, and SAT or ACT tests, if applicable. Students will improve their writing skills by completing a variety of timed and take home writing projects, including Performance Tasks. 

We will be using the online curriculum Edgenuity this school year. If we are able to return to the classroom, we will still continue using Edgenuity. We will also be utilizing Google Classroom as a platform for supplemental online assignments.
