The O'Farrell Charter School

Winner of the National Excellence in Urban Education Award

Alissa Swauger » Greetings!

I am excited to teach Biology, AP Biology, and Career Development in the high school at O'Farrell for the 2019 - 2020 school year! This will be my second year as a full-time teacher at O'Farrell, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of this amazing school and community.
I grew up and attended school in Palm Springs, California before attending the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) for my undergraduate work. I received my bachelor's degree (BS) in Environmental Science and had my first experience teaching as a volunteer health educator, where I taught high school health classes in schools around Los Angeles.
After graduating from UCLA, I moved to San Diego where I have resided for the past nine years - enjoying all that the county has to offer from Julian to the beaches (especially dog beach)! I received my teaching credential from San Diego State University (SDSU) in 2017, and I was lucky enough to complete my student teaching at O'Farrell.
The best way to reach me is through email - I have posted my syllabi below for quick reference.
Here's to a great year!
