I'm from Canton, Mississippi. I have seven sisters and six brothers.  My Father died when I was eight years old - this was a very difficult time in my life.  I've always wanted to go to college, but my Mother couldn't afford the tuition.  So I decided in junior high school that I would join the Navy and pursue a career in Business.  After a successful Navy career, I retired and was prepared to start a new chapter in my life.

I started my teaching career after I retired from the U.  S. Navy.  While I was on active duty I graduated from Northwood University in Midland, Michigan with a Bachelor's of Art degree in Management.  After retiring, I  attended Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California and graduated with a Master's Degree in Education and a Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential.  I am also CLAD, GATE, and NCLB Certified.

My teaching philosophy: I believe that all students can learn once they are given the opportunity, the means, and the support.  The opportunity, means, and support must start in the home and continue in the classroom with caring teachers.  I am a caring teacher with a passion to help every student who comes into my classroom.  I believe in a disciplined classroom so learning can happen.  I require my students to respect others' views recognizing that we are all
different.

I am married with two children.   My hobbies are exercising, reading, collecting cookbooks and cooking.
