About Mr. Pollard: I was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, before I moved to San Diego in 1997. When I was growing up, I loved reading comic books and novels, and I was blessed to have inspiring English teachers who fostered my love of stories, creative writing, and fun literary discussions. These experiences motivated me to earn a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature and a teaching credential at San Diego State University. In 2009, I earned a Master's Degree in Education at National University and a National Board Certification in Early Adolescent English Language Arts. I have been teaching at O'Farrell since 2004, and I currently teach English and Digital Photography at the high school. As an English teacher, I encourage my students to read for pleasure, to develop their creative and academic writing skills, to increase their critical thinking ability, and to master language arts standards. In photography, I push my students to develop their artistic visions, blending an aesthetic and technical approach to the art. During my time off, I spend time with my mother and my two daughters. My hobbies include going mountain biking, taking pictures, listening to music, watching baseball, playing pinball games, and of course, reading.
