Thank you for choosing The O’Farrell High School. As the principal I have the privilege of leading the very best group of teachers and students you’ll find at any educational institution.
I was proudly born and raised in San Diego, only a few miles from O'Farrell. After serving in the United States Army as a forward observer I returned to my hometown and earned my bachelor’s degree in Social Science and my teaching credential from San Diego State University. I began teaching at O'Farrell and never left. I later earned my Masters of Education and Administration Credential from Concordia University.
I have four children, including one that graduated from O'Farrell. For over 20 years I have worked in this amazing place, and for over 20 years I have loved my job. I have taught middle and high school History, as well as AP History, and was chosen as one of America’s Outstanding Teachers by the National Honor Society. I have been proud to be the founding high school principal and lead an amazing staff that has achieved six consecutive titles as one of the Best High Schools in America as ranked by U.S. News & World Report. This year we are ranked in the top 4% of high schools in the nation! We are an AVID National Demonstration School and an NCUST award winning school. Several books have been published outlining The O'Farrell High School's success including Five Practices for Improving the Success of Latino Students and When Black Students Excel.
I have a passion for helping students learn to face their challenges, persevere through difficulties, and build a great life for themselves, their families, and their community.
