Welcome to the 2020-21 school year!
I am so excited to be a new addition to O'Farrell! I know this year looks a little different, but I have full confidence I will get you through this year with the same knowledge and skill set as if it were a normal year. We are all in this digital learning environment together and this is something you will remember for the rest of your life!
A little about me...
I moved from Los Angeles to San Diego a little over a year ago and spent my first year here substitute teaching (some of you may recognize me!) I was also very busy with an active baby boy, Felix Richard, who was born on March 11 - the day the pandemic was declared.
This will be my 5th year in the classroom, if you include student teaching and substitute teaching. In Los Angeles I taught at a K-12 magnet school with LAUSD for 2 years. I have taught every grade and subject from 8 - 12 and love all things history. My first year of teaching I won the 'Rookie of the Year' award, a prestigious award only granted to a small group of first-year teachers.
I was born and raised on the east coast, but have been in Southern California for over 9 years with no intent of ever leaving... I can't get enough of the sunshine! In a past life I worked in the advertising industry, but found that teaching is where my heart lies. I got my master's and teaching credential from University of Southern California and never looked back. In my free time I spend time with my son, husband, & dog (Rufus!), garden, run, travel, and explore all the great things San Diego has to offer. I can't wait to meet you all and get started this year!
