My name is Melody Casas and I am the 7th Grade Education Specialist for the 2022-2023 Academic School Year. One of the most common questions that I get asked is, "What exactly is an Education Specialist?" In simple terms, I am a Special Education Teacher who will be managing cases to ensure the students' learning needs are being met as stated by their Individualized Education Program (IEP).
A little about me:
This will be my first official year teaching! However I do have experience working as a case manager, as a substitute teacher, and as a program leader for an after school program.
I was born and raised in Sunny San Diego, CA. I actually grew up in inner-city San Diego in the neighborhood called City Heights which is not too far from Southeast San Diego. During my free time I enjoy hiking, spending time with my doggo, and watching the sunset.
I am a first-generation student, which means I am the first person in my family to graduate from college. I attended Grand Canyon University for undergraduate and graduate school. I received my Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Health Education with a minor in Psychology back in 2019. I also obtained my Masters in Special Education in 2021 where I earned my K-12 Mild/Moderate Special Education Teaching Credential.
I am extremely excited to be a part of the Falcon family and I look forward to working with all of you this upcoming school year!
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions.
