Student Safety

Our goal at The O’Farrell Charter School is to ensure your students receive a rigorous education in a safe and secure learning environment. We also want to ensure that our students arrive to school in the morning and return home safely at the end of the day. Here are some important reminders for your family:
*Please obey all safety laws, signs, and signals regarding crossing streets.
*Please do not pick up or drop off students in the crosswalks, or in red zones. San
Diego Police Department will issue citations for these violations.
*Please remind children to never accept a ride in a car from a stranger. If they are
approached by an adult they do not know, instruct them to leave the area and seek
help from a staff member at the school, the park/rec center, or a nearby church or
business.
*If your child walks to and from school, please remind him or her to be respectful of
our neighbors. Please pick up any trash, and avoid walking through the yards of
our neighbors.
Please remember to drop students off in the designated area for their school. If
you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your child’s homebase teacher. Thank you for partnering with us to ensure the safety of your child.

School Safety Procedures

The safety and security of all of our students is our priority. Within the first two weeks of school we have held an evacuation drill and a lockdown drill to ensure that staff and students know what to do in the event of an emergency. During a real emergency, parents or guardians will receive a notification via our automated dial-out system as soon as possible. If you have questions about our safety protocols, please visit the School Safety section of our website or contact your child’s homebase teacher.
