Welcome to First Grade!
My name is Rita Gaskill. I grew up in San Diego since the age of 2, and I love this city! So much so that my elementary, middle school, high school, and college were all on the same street. I graduated from the University of San Diego with a B.A. in Speech Communication, minor in Business and History. I went on to obtain a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential at San Diego State University in 2008. While at USD, I studied abroad for two semesters in Guadalajara, Mexico where I enjoyed the food and culture of its people. In Mexico I traveled to beautiful coastal cities of Puerto Vallarta, Michoacán, Manzanillo, and Mazatlán and also experienced the ancient Aztec ruins of Mexico City. I also studied a year in Oxford, England delving into the rich English history and scholarly experience of its people. I was able to visit the garden that inspired Lewis Carroll to write Alice in Wonderland, the huge Christ Church used as Hogwarts School in Harry Potter, and The Lord of the Rings' author, J.R.R. Tolkien's home. I love visiting inspirational sites of my favorite readings.
In my free time, I enjoy baseball games, reading, traveling, swimming, and learning new things. Aside from teaching, I love my other job as a mother.
