PARTICIPATION CRITERIA FOR THE EIGHTH GRADE PROMOTION CEREMONY

Academic Requirements

  1. Students are required to meet the established requirements for successful promotion to high school; each student must receive a passing grade (D or higher) in all classes on their twelve-week progress report in the spring semester of their eighth grade year. Students must also make up a failing grade in an elective class from the fall semester. Students who must take Summer Institute courses to be promoted to the ninth grade are NOT ELIGIBLE to participate in the June ceremony.

FALCON Way Requirements

  1. Students must receive a grade of satisfactory or higher in the FALCON Way in (citizenship) all seven classes (core and non-core) on their twelve-week progress report in the spring semester of their eighth grade year.
  2. Students suspended during the last six weeks of the school year are NOT ELIGIBLE to participate in the Promotion Ceremony.
  3. Students who miss more than twenty (20) school days (including suspensions) for the entire school year ARE NOT eligible to participate in the Promotion Ceremony. Students who miss more than twenty (20) school days BUT complete an Independent Study Contract(s), or attend Saturday School are still eligible. Long-term health problems can be excused.
