Description
The AP English Literature and Composition course is intended to give students the experience of an introductory-level literature course in college. Students will be reading a great deal of classic, sophisticated, world literature from the sixteenth century to contemporary times. The Pearson Anthology: Literature; An Introduction to Reading and Writing (AP Edition) will be used and several novels, plays, and poems wills be studied as well. The course will concentrate on the experience of literature, the interpretation of literature, and writing to develop stylistic maturity. The goal is to foster a love of literature, and to prepare students to succeed in college.

2) Timed Write #1 - Free Response Prompt - Respond to a surprise prompt using a text of your choice from the semester, including your book analysis text, Hamlet (if time allows), or Frankenstein, Oedipus, Their Eyes Were Watching God, or Pride and Prejudice.
3) Timed Write #2 - Prose prompt - Prepare to write about a surprise prose excerpt about character development, and the use of literary devices.
