NEW EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
ASSEMBLY BILL 2534 (AB-2534)
Per Section 44939.5 of the Education Code:
(c) (1) A person applying for a certificated position at a school district, county office of education, charter school, or state special school shall provide that prospective employer with a complete list of every school district, county office of education, charter school, and state special school that the applicant has previously been an employee of.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: 1/1/2026
AB 2534 requirements now apply to noncertificated employees, meaning Applicants have to provide a list of prior employment with any school district, county office of education, charter school, private school, state special school, or state diagnostic center; Schools must inquire with each previous employer if the applicant was the subject of a credible complaint, substantiated investigation, or disciplined for egregious misconduct as defined in Education Code section 44932(a)(1).
