DELAC

O'Farrell's District English Language Advisory Committee (DELAC) is a group of parents and educational partners who meet every other month to discuss student achievement, upcoming school activities, and available academic supports and student programs, with a focus on English Learners.

The primary purpose of DELAC is to advise school leadership and staff regarding the instructional programs and support services for English Learners. DELAC is also responsible for advising the School Site Council (SSC).  DELAC acts as the English learner parent advisory committee under Education Code Sections 52063(b)(1) and 52062(a)(2), the DELAC also reviews and comments on the development of the annual update of the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). DELAC also reviews and provides input on compliance requirements such as reclassification criteria, LEA English Learner Master Plan, and required parent notifications. The school is responsible for training and providing appropriate support to all DELAC members. By doing so, DELAC members are well-informed and able to communicate meaningful input and advice to the school about its efforts to educate English Learners.
